The 12 Kits of Occasions: October, 2015

Let's Go!

It's time for our monthly 12 Kits of Occasion post, and I am the host this month.  I went rogue and chose my own theme this month....Let's Go.

I used papers, stamps and dies all around the theme of travel and far away places. Last year, I purchased 2 pretty expensive sets from PTI, Get Lost and Pack Your Bags, and they had not seen much (any) love, so I decided to base my kit on those sets.  I also used a few stamps from Penny Black and Tim Holtz and paper from Echo Park.  You can see a complete supply list under the heading 'Monthly Kit Supplies - 2015 on the 12 Kits of Occasions blog.

I was not sure if I would be able to make anything at all from my kit because I used stamps and dies I had for a long time and which had stumped me whenever I pulled them out and tried to create.  I was hoping that creating a kit with those supplies would somehow jump start my mojo.  And, it worked.  I am happy to report that I was able to make 7 cards in a very short period of time, and I am looking forward to seeing what everyone else did so I can get even more ideas.

That's it for me today.  Please visit us over at the 12 Kits of Occasions blog, where you can see a list of all the other designers and click over to their blogs.

I invited 2 crafty friends to join us this month.  Kara from K and R Designs and Jacquie from What did I do today?. Please visit them and take a look at what they created from their kits.

Time Out #43...Warm Winter Wishes

Hello and welcome to a new challenge at Time Out.  This week, our challenge is Christmas with an optional twist of pink and/or purple.

I decided to take my MFT polar bears out to play, and I dressed them up in some stylish pink and purple gear with a bit of Copic coloring.

I hope that you will take some Time Out to play along with us over the next two weeks.  Please see the Time Out challenge blog to see more inspiration from the Design Team and our Guest Designer Suchi.

Our sponsor this week is Uniko and their designers will also be joining us in providing you with inspiration for our challenge.

With Sympathy

For some reason, I really felt like the sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch #146 would work well for a sympathy card, so that is the direction I went this week.

I used Harvest Berries stamps and dies in Scarlet Jewel ink with a sentiment from Reverse Confetti.

I made one more sympathy card, this time using the Branching Out die, a sentiment from Avery Elle and Ocean Tides paper.

I do like to keep a stock of sympathy cards on hand, so these will be going into my stash, and I hope they will stay there for a long time.

I am also entering both of these cards at Simon Says Monday Throwback Challenge to June 8th--For the Love of Plants, and Simon Says Wednesday Challenge Anything Goes.

CASology Week #170: Heart

This is my second post for today.  If you are looking for my ColourQ post,  please click here.

Hello and happy Tuesday.  Time for another challenge at CASology.  This week, our cue word is Heart.  I think we may have stumped some of our regulars last week, but hopefully we make up for it this week with a super easy and fun cue word.

I purchased WPlus9 Heartfelt Mix used a while back, and it was sitting on my desk, just waiting to be used on a CAS card.  Lucky me.  This card could not get any simpler.  I stamped three hearts on scrap paper, cut them out and 'hung' them on the line using foam tape.  That green heart on the right is stamped with PTI's newest color called Vintage Jadeite.  Such a pretty green.

Trying to get a little fancier with my photos, here is another view of the card.

Now, it's your turn.  How does HEART inspire you?  I hope you play along this week. Please remember to keep it Clean and Simple.

Please head on over to the CASology blog and gather some inspiration from the design team.

We are sponsored this week by So Suzy Stamps.

ColourQ #314...Witch's Brew

If you are looking for my CASology post, please click here.

Hello and welcome to a new challenge at ColourQ.   I know I said I was DONE with Halloween, but honestly, this color scheme just demanded one more Halloween card.  Plus, I realized that I bought the die for this broom and witch's boots and hadn't even used it, so bear with me for one more Halloween card.

I colored this image with Copics, and used the same Copics to color just the edges of the die cut layers underneath.  I learned that trick somewhere, and it really comes in handy when I do not have the exact color of paper to match my markers.

Please head on over to the ColourQ challenge blog to see more inspiration from the design team.  I hope you will join in the fun and play along this week.

I am also entering this card at Inkspirational Challenge #94 Cute Halloween, AAA Cards Game #51: Anything Goes Halloween, Addicted to Stamps and More #167:  Make Your Mark, and Simon Says Monday Throwback to The Monster Mash.

Happy Little Stampers Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to the Happy Little Stampers Second Release Blog Hop.  If you are hopping in order, you should have come to me from Loll Thompson.

Take a look at all the new stamps from Happy Little Stampers.

I was lucky enough to get to play with Whimsical Friends, and I have 4 cards to show you.  This stamp set is so fun to play with, and the images are just adorable.

I started by repeatedly stamping the elephant image across the bottom of my card.  I used WPlus9 Fairy Dust ink for all the images except the one I colored.  I used Copics to color in one elephant as well as his bird friend perched on his back.  I added a pattern to the blanket on the elephant's back.

I used a sentiment from Whimsical Friends as well as most of the birds for my next card, again coloring with Copics.

The images in this set are perfect for paper piecing, too.  I used some scraps from an old Echo Park paper pad.

Last up, I wanted to show how these images would work stamped as a background.  I randomly stamped several of the images on to a piece of card stock, and then merely scribbled a bit of color using Distress markers.

I added a sentiment heat embossed in white on a stitched flag die cut.

That's it for me.  Your next stop on the hop is Gloria Lee.  If you get lost, you can always return to the Happy Little Stampers blog.  Please leave a comment here and on all the other blogs in the blog hop for a chance to win a $50 Gift Certificate to the Happy Little Stampers store.

Happy Hopping

PTI October 2015 Blog Hop

Hello.  I am playing along with the PTI October blog hop, where we were given this photo for inspiration.  I was inspired by the white tags and green leaves, and I wanted my card to have a bit of red.

Lots to see on the hop, so I won't keep you here.
